‘tis hard to believe that today
is Wednesday the 27th of April, in the year 2016 seems only yesterday that we
were celebrating the arrival of the new year – the year 2000!
Today the weather is mild, and
windy. Carla is still busy transplanting
and is keeping me busy with cutting up milk bottles.
The oldest date I happened to
notice on the cartons was July 12, 2015.
We usually drink about 4-6 half gallons of milk a week and that coupled
with orange juice coming in the same size container she saves about 300 +/- a
year. We have used them all plus some
given back to her.
It is not inexpensive, but it is
not all that expensive either – and it gives her great pleasure to ‘play in the
dirt’ and watch the plants grow. Not to
mention giving them away – as we will also do with extra tomatoes during the
growing season.
Her lettuce, potatoes and peas
also seem to be doing well – then of course her flowers are also starting to
peek out of the soil and/or produce the flowers. She has Dahlias, Roses, Fuchsias, Begonias,
and a bunch of others.
She is barely staying a head of
the bees.....
1 Kings 3:5-7 n Gibeon the
Lord
appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give
thee.
6 And Solomon said, Thou
hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked
before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with
thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a
son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
7 And now, O
Lord my God, thou hast made
thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know
not how to go out or come in.
King David. In all his imperfections, David loved
God. He sinned, often with very serious
consequences; yet, He came back to God and asked His forgiveness.
Even though he submitted to
satan’s temptations over and over again, he was never far from God’s heart, and
he was forgiven his inequities.
In David we have the example of
God’s great love and willingness to lead man in His ways. Even though David sinned, even though he was
a flawed man, he understood his weaknesses and yielded to God. His heart’s ambition was to serve God, even
from a young age.
In Jewish history (and ours) he
is listed with the great leaders of the Old Testament, Abraham, Moses, Noah,
Daniel among them.
These men were human, subject to
the same passions and fears we have.
They were tempted and sometimes yielded to those temptations, yet, they
were quick to understand they had sinned and were forgiven.
Luke 22:60-61 And
Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet
spake, the cock crew.
61 And the Lord turned, and
looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said
unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me
thrice.
Mark
16:7 But go your way, tell his
disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see
him, as he said unto you.
The stalwart of the Church was
Peter. He had denied Christ and as such
he knew what that meant.
Mathew 10:32-34 Whosoever therefore
shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is
in heaven.
33 But whosoever shall deny
me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in
heaven.
Peter, who had boldly boasted
that he would never forsake Jesus denied Him and was in danger of losing his
salvation.
But once again, God forgave the
foibles of a man and Peter became the truly great leader of the Church.
I think, often, of these two
men. I relate with their weaknesses,
their falling away from God.
But I have great hope that as
they were forgiven and used by God, He will do the same for me.
Later, Art :-)
