Clear blue skies, not as deeply blue as when the snow was on the ground, but none-the-less, blue with no clouds.  Bright sun starting to warm the ground, although we know it will not penetrate very deep and will be once again well below freezing tonight – indeed not yet above freezing as I write, still only 31, not sure it will get much warmer.  Supposed to have sleet and snow this week, it is winter after all.
Fixed the last of the left-over turkey last night – make turkey pot pie, we finished it today at lunch.  Most everything else has been eaten.  The carcass of the turkey was boiled and simmered into a rich dark broth for future soups or addition to casseroles.  It tastes so much better than the store’s.
Ezekiel 37:1-5  The hand of the Lord was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,
2 And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.
3 And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord God, thou knowest.
4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.
5 Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:

This, of course, was a resemblance and analogy of what Israel had become as they had turned away from God.  They were dried up they were without the guidance and protection of God.  Their souls were as dry as these bones, but they could, and would, come alive once again.
But as we read through the Chapter we see that God was going to once again bring the nation together under Him.  Despite all their sins and turnings from Him, despite their denial of His power and rightful place in their hearts, God was going to give them life once again.  They would become one people, one nation serving Him.
Our spirits at times also feel like they are dry, as dry as that valley of dry bones.  We read His Word, we study, we pray, but we feel like we are drying up.  Our souls seem have no moisture no life, they are slowly withering into nothingness.
God seems to be so far from us and we can’t reach Him.  Our hands extent out, but we feel no relief.  We are as dry as those bones and feel we can do nothing about it.
We languish in our despair, will we ever have that life surging through us again?  Will our bodies, minds and spirits once again work as one and accomplish something?  Or will we deteriorate to the point that we are but dry bones?
Our country is in disarray denying the authority of God and worshipping idols; proclaiming man as the only power worthy of consideration.  We feel we are doomed to be destroyed by our own indulgences – and if something doesn’t change we will be right.  We ask where is God in this time of need?  How can we convince Him that we need His gentle hand on us and this nation?
We are not alone when we feel like that.  The Psalmists declared the same feelings and we see they relied on their knowledge of the scriptures to help them through those troubling times.
Psalm 30:10-12   Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me: Lord, be thou my helper.
11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.
Throughout the Testaments, Old and New, men confessed their anguish, confessed their feelings of separation from God and prayed, with a heart full of sorrow but with a knowledge that God was there and loved them.  The country of Israel was beset on every hand by its stubbornness and disregard of the Lord their God and His commandments.  Yet, there were those that prayed.  Those that desired to see God’s Spirit once again move among them.
Our nation is as Israel was, in rebellion against God.  The result has been a huge division among our people.  Hatred and violence abounds.  Distrust is the primary feeling among us and the gulf of suspicion widens.
Distrust of corporations, who many feel are ravaging the world for their own profits without regard to the needs of the world - colors our opinions and turns into distrust of all businesses.  Any regulation that stifles industry becomes as an arrow into personal freedom and creativity.  It is coming to the point that there is no middle ground.
Accusations and mistrust of the Federal Government by many and the feeling it is the only salvation by others.  The distrust of federal government becomes distrust of all government.  We have a heavy cloud of fear and hatred hovering over our country and it is raining in a destructive flood of anger and violence.
The anger and distrust among the people in our country is much like it was just before, during and after the Civil War.
Broken families, no families - where children are born out of wedlock for the welfare money and then forgotten.  Abuse of the system and abuse of power flourishes today; no accountability, no recognition of righteousness - we are adrift in a wilderness of sin.  Everyone seems to be out to get whatever they can no matter the cost to others and society in general.
This country is like that valley of disconnected bones that need the Word of God preached, the Spirit of God to move among us and the people to look to God for salvation.  We need prayer warriors and Spirit led men and women who will unselfishly preach God’s Word.
We need God.
But with Him, with His Love and Grace the Spirit can once again work within the people of this country.  The dry bones of rebellion can once again be filled with the water from the source that will never run dry.  The body will come together and be able to move and serve Him as He deserves.
We have a great nation, but it is falling apart because denying God and His rightful place in the world has become the prevalent force in our nation.  Until we reverse that, until we accept Him for who He is we will continue to spiral down with ever increasing speed into that cesspool of degeneration.
We will be like all the other great Gentile nations that have gone before us.  Once mighty and powerful, but so full of sin God turned His back on them and they perished.  We are not all that far from that happening.
God wants to refill us with His Spirit; He wants to once again pour out His Blessings on this Land.  But that will not happen as long as Christians allow this nation to be held captive by those that deny Him.
John 4:10  Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
And 14  But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
We are a dry and thirsty land, but it is not too late to accept the water HE offers and bind ourselves together in Him.  All it takes is submission to Him.

Sunshine!!  It was foggy and cloudy and rainy earlier today, but that beautiful yellow light that the sun emits in the fall is now basking the hillside with its warming touch.  Blue skies are growing as the clouds go away.
Which means the forecast for colder nights are going to be true!  Still, I love the seasons, it invigorates and gives a renewed enjoyment of life in the ColumbiaRiverGorgeous!
Psalm 136:1 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Indeed the verse fills this chapter, it is repeated over and over.  How glorious God was in the days of old.
He showed great mercy to the Israelites, He led them out of bondage, He provided food for them and their clothing never wore out for 40 years.
He provided many miracles through the years to prove His great love and mercy.  His appointed leaders and prophets to speak of Him, teach of Him, proclaiming His Word as he led them.  2 Peter 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
God has always been available to His people.  Sometimes we forget or we minimize the love He had/has for the Jews.  Because we have Christ as our personal Savior, because He took to the cross all of our sins, we forget that many of the Jewish people loved God and served Him to the best of their abilities.  And He provided for them.
Christ came to the Jews first because He loved them; because they were HIS chosen people and He wanted to give them every opportunity to accept the Messiah, His Son, Jesus, as the sacrifice for their sins and the fulfillment of the promises He had been giving them for thousands of years.
While the procedure to serve God, the process of attaining eternal life with Him was always the same, Love and obedience to Him – we have immediate access to Him through Christ.  We have a promise of eternal life with Him NOW; we do not have to wait in Abraham’s Bosom as so many thousands of Jews had to wait until God sent His Son to save all mankind.   Luke 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom:
Jesus taught in the tabernacles and many Jews accepted Him as the Messiah; the Apostles and many of the early Christians, being Jews, taught in the tabernacles and shared their faith in Christ through their Jews teachings to others and many more came to Christ.
They were there; many saw first-hand the Christ walking among them.  They were witnesses to His sermons, miracles, death and resurrection.  They were friends and family members of those that had also seen Jesus, and believed.  They spoke as the chosen people – to the chosen people - that had been taught the scriptures from their earliest childhood and as eye witnesses as to the Glory of Christ.
Those that condemn the Jews, as a people, do so at their own risk.  They are still the chosen people.  Those that have accepted Christ as Savior – as we gentiles have accepted Christ as Savior – are part of the Church, the Bride of Christ.  They serve God through His risen Savior, as we do.
The Jews have turned their backs on God through the millenniums many times.  He chastised them, He punished them, He allowed them to be driven from their homes and scattered across the earth – but in all of it, His message was the same, these are HIS CHOSEN PEOPLE.  He is still dealing with them, as a people.
He expects them to honor His Son and many do, of the others I have no doubt He loves them, but they are not being obedient to Him and they will suffer accordingly.
Will the punishment be the same as those gentiles that reject Him?  Probably, since once the gentiles were included in the Grace of God all Scriptures and teaching dealt with the believer and did not differentiate whether Jew or Gentile and all were expected to obey under the new covenant through Christ.  Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
The same call to praise God in the Old Testament, is also prevalent in the New:
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice evermore.
17 Pray without ceasing.
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

While we might puff ourselves up with pride that we have Jesus Christ as our Savior, we must never forget that God loves all of man.  That He provided a means of salvation for the Israelites in the Old Testament.  While their lives were more difficult under the law, many served God with a great love and obedience.
1 Chronicles 16:22-24 Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.
23 Sing unto the Lord, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation.
24 Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations.

The Old Testament ways are gone, Christ fulfilled the Law and now the only means to enter into a relationship with God is through Him.  But the Old Testament teaches us of God and His love; we learn of His protection to His people and His desire for all to come to Him.
Studying the Old Testament reaffirms the power and glory of God and shows us His Will for all man.  It teaches us that God is willing to do mighty things, using those servants that give their heart to Him.
It confirms that He has always been there for man; He has always wanted man to be perfect so that man can be with Him.  His love and mercy is far beyond anything we can possibly imagine and He deserves our absolute devotion and commitment to Him.
God is God; He does not change.  His Love and Mercy indeed shall be forever!

Woke up to fog, then more fog, then the sun kinda broke through, then more fog.  Temp is mild, though so can’t have everything.
Blaze is enjoying the yard, running around out there with NO snow!  Little character doesn’t want to come inside – but when it started raining ‘twas a different case.  He is still skittish and doesn’t care for company.  He is getting better with the cats, though, they ignore him so he has stopped trying to intimidate them – usually.......
Mathew 10:32-33 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

Christ draws a very fine line, either you confess me, or I will deny you before my Father; pretty clear, no way to wiggle out of it.  Peter knew that when he denied Christ and we know the story well:
Mathew 26:69-75  Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.
70 But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.
71 And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.
72 And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.
73 And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.
74 Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.
75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

Peter walked with Christ for about three years.  He was one of the favorites of Christ, a special disciple that He expected much of.  Peter was bold, brave, outspoken; there was no doubt in Peter, Jesus was the Christ.  He said it, because he believed it.  He saw the miracles, he heard the teachings of Christ, he had experienced firsthand the power that Christ possessed.
Peter loved Christ.  But on that morning he was confused, he was disillusioned.  Judas had turned traitor.  All the other times that the leaders had tried to capture Jesus, Jesus had escaped unharmed.  Peter had taken up the sword that Jesus had told him to bring and started to fight, but Jesus stopped him.  Peter’s whole world had been turned upside down, and he did not handle it well.
This proud man whom Peter had followed for the past three years was now being beaten and humiliated before him.  Jesus was not defending Himself, He was standing there and taking it.
Peter was a man of action and all of this had to be disheartening.  Forbidden to fight for Jesus, he followed him to the trials.  He was recognized by people and denied he knew him.
He denied Christ.  When the prophesy was confirmed by the crowing of the cock, he fully realized what he had done.  Ashamed, fearful and probably being reminded of the statement that Jesus made about denying him, he fled and wept.  Peter had denied Christ, three times, in public.
Why couldn’t Peter stand before these people?  Why did he deny he knew Jesus?  For the same reasons we sometimes do the same thing – he was there in his own strength.
As a strong man Peter relied on his strength and boldness to make his way in life.  When faced with all that occurred that night and morning he was ill prepared to combat satan as he worked around and then within him.
God gives us gifts, we learn to use those gifts and then we forget who gave them to us.  As time goes on we learn that we can use those gifts with very little effort on our part.  Because we are good at something we tend to rely on our abilities rather than on God.
But there are times that we are tested and our abilities are insufficient to get the job done.  We need to prepare ourselves for the eventuality by being close to God; always submitting ourselves in both strength and weakness to Him.
Peter was warned that he was not up to the task.  Instead of asking Jesus how he could be stronger, he puffed up his chest and said not me, I would never leave you.  He was defeated by his pride even before he was confronted.
We can be very thankful that the story doesn’t end there.  It gives us hope that we can overcome our own pride, our own failures and sins.  Jesus looks at the heart of man, as He did with Peter, and He forgives us:
Mark 16:7  But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.
and Peter!

“My friend has orchestra as her elective. She likes that it's her last class so she can end the day on a good note!”
My recovery is taking a lot longer this time around, not sure why.  I feel better each day, but as the day goes on I become tired and my eyes need rest.  Looks like I am going to have to learn patience, whether I want to or not, right now!
Trust you are all having a good day and that many family and friends are sharing it with you.  It is quiet around the house and will be for the most part.  Teresa and Ian will be here in a couple of hours, but I truly miss the rest of the kids!
Ephesians 2:6-9  And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

On this Thanksgiving Day 2014 we have much to be thankful for, and paramount is our Salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
God’s desires for our direct communications with Him were evident at the very beginning of man.  He created man that He could walk and talk with Him.
While man fell, God did not abandon Him.  While He has allowed great catastrophes to befall man, He has never completely abandoned him – always there has been a remnant that has continued to worship and Him and He has honored that devotion.
He once again allowed man to come into His fold, into His family.  While it was to the Jew, first, that He came, His message was for all men, and we now have the pleasure of His Company.
As we look at our salvation through Christ we know that we are assured of eternal life with Him that is not dependent on our work.  How would we know we have done enough to get to heaven?
We see so many people that believe they must earn their way to heaven – how do they know they have done enough?  What is their measure, who do they measure themselves against?  It seems there is always someone who appears more dedicated that we are.
What is the cutoff point where we can relax and know that we have done enough to make it?  The Jews were under the law, and that is preciously what they had to concern themselves with on a daily basis – and most failed.
But in Christ we can be saved and know that our salvation is sure.  He suffered for our sins and He paid the price.  He died for us.  But it didn’t stop there, the sacrifice of His Life was accepted by God as the payment for all who have sinned and have come to God through Christ.
One of the things I noted as I was being cared for in the hospital is both my roommate and myself thanked our nurses, techs and CNA’s for the things they did, often several times over the course of just a few minutes.
It wasn’t just something to say, we were grateful for their assistance.  While they were being paid to do their job, they did it with a kindness and a smile.  We appreciated them; the thanks, though automatic, was meaningful.  One thank you was insufficient.
We have a lot to be thankful for here in America.  We may not always agree with our leaders, but we still have a nation that has been blessed by God.
At the very top of our list of what we are thankful for should be the Sacrifice of Christ Jesus and the freedom we have in Him.  Not just today, but every day – indeed several times a day.
There are a lot of little things He does for us that we just don’t pay attention to, but like my hospital stay, when I am aware of the gift, I am more apt to thank the giver.  When we open our eyes and heart, we see the many gifts He gives us on a daily basis.  We need to be aware and be thankful.
As you celebrate today, May God richly Bless YOU!

What a difference a few days makes – the weather this time last week was in the single digits, now we are in the 40’s overnight.  The sun is shining; few clouds in the sky; the snow is gone both from the rain and the warmth of the winds blowing over the ground.  And we are back to our normal fall – for now.
Well, I have a new definition of getting older – When your grandson borrows your pickup.  Teresa had some things to haul off to the dump, so she sent Ian to get the pickup.  AND Rosie has her permit.
Still having a bit of a struggle on concentration; mind is still fuzzy, but doing better.
Psalm 139:23-24  Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Titus 1:9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
We are always under a microscope when we declare Christ as our Lord.  People watch, some to find fault others to learn, but we are being watched.
Most of us found Christ by watching others, the way they lived their life, their choice of words, their actions under duress.  So we should understand how that works – God works through our relationships with others.
God uses His people to help the Holy Spirit draw people to Him.  By asking Him to search our heart, by asking Him to know our thoughts and to show us the way to everlasting peace we become closer to Him.  We realize that we cannot be perfect in and of ourselves.  Perfection comes from knowing Him and from having a heart felt desire to be like Him.
Christ makes us perfect; yet, we falter and fail so often.  We don’t mean to, we want to do what we know God wants us to do, but yet we still falter.
God understands.
Psalm 130:3-5 If thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?
4 But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.
5 I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.

To understand God, to walk with God, to listen to God, we must read His Word, delving into His thoughts so we can have a closer relationship with Him.
Far too many people think that prayer alone is the way we have God search our hearts; that we will feel His presence and serve Him better.
Prayer, of course, IS extremely important, but when done as a substitute for studying His Word it can become convoluted.  Satan can enter in unbeknown to us and start guiding our thoughts away from God’s way onto his way.
As we study the Word of God He becomes more real, His Word really does light up our heart.  His Holy Spirit works with our spirit and shows us the errors of our ways.  We can better discern how the world imperceptibly starts to clutter our mind with thoughts that lure us away from God.
God wants us to be perfect; He wants us to walk as Jesus walked in this world.  We know that Jesus was a scholar of the Word.  We know that He used Scriptures to refute the false teachings in His time and as we read of His life we have a better understanding of how He maintained that perfection.
He knew God’s Word, He prayed to the Father for guidance and He put into action His faith in God.
To share God’s love to others we don’t have to wait until we have reached a plateau of perfection.  The day Christ saved us is the day we started our mission of spreading God’s Word for Him.
The longer we are under the cover of the blood of Christ, though, the more we should know and understand about God.  The only way we can achieve that is to listen to those that are wise in the ways of God, read His Word on a regular (daily) basis, pray that we will be effective servants and to have patience which will allow Him to work within us.
While we are under that microscope it is amazing how many are willing to give us some leeway when they realize we are not perfect.  They realize we are human and at times we falter but as they watch us they see the overall working of Christ within us – and are drawn to Him.  He is perfect even if we are not.
God has given us the means to perfection, we know the way to perfection, we just have to strive to make that the priority in our life.  Not for our sakes, but for the Glory of God.

Tuesday, November 25, 2014

Well I am back on-line again.  Still very tired; very.  My heart once again went into A-Fib.  The operation I was to undergo this morning had to be postponed.
When the Doc sat down with me in the ER Wednesday, he said the last time I was in the hospital I gave the nurses a real scare and, tongue in cheek, he asked that I not do that again – he was referring to the fact my heart went into overdrive and I almost died.  I assured him I would do my best.
He said they would be taking it very easy, trying to find a medication that might put me back in rhythm without the requirement of once again shocking me.
He started the medication and placed me in ICU overnight.  While it did lower my Blood pressure and heart rate – somewhat - while I was at rest, once I moved around it shot right back up.  I was having heart rates in the 180 range – not a good thing.
The following day they tried something else and continued to closely monitor me – it seemed to start working and while it was still too high, it was coming down and they were pleased.  Now they just needed to find the right dose.  However, that night my heart went from 180+ when I moved around to 20 and even ‘paused’ a few times from 2 – 4 seconds; once again I was ‘scaring’ the nurses.  They stopped the medication.
The next day they again shocked me and my heart is now in a better rhythm, so to speak.  More tests, probably including trip(s) to Portland, appear to be in my future.
Prayers will be appreciated – also for poor Carla who has to watch me go through all this.
Now, I will be writing my thank you notes to the staff at the hospital, they have some very good people up there.
Psalm 100:3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Mathew 26:39 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
There are times that we just don’t understand why we are going through trials; we have done the best we can, why are we suffering?  It just doesn’t make sense, what good can possibly come of our struggles?  Please, God, we pray, why are you doing this to me?
It is okay to ask.  We may not understand, even then, but it is okay to ask.
Man was created by God, for God.  We sometimes forget that, but it is important that we remember that fact – it helps put things in perspective.  We really are not our own, even before we accepted Christ, God was God – and He had legitimate claim on our lives.
Once we accepted Christ then that claim is solidified and it becomes even more important to our spiritual well-being to obey Him.
Sometimes God asks things of us that are incredibly difficult to accomplish.  It may require more of our time, or strength; it may require we give up other pursuits to obey Him.  It may appear we cannot do it; we just don’t have the strength, skill or even the faith to follow Him where He seems to want to take us.  But what we feel doesn’t excuse us from obedience to Him.
We also sometimes forget that Jesus was a man, He was God, but He was also a man.  The part that went through the torture and humiliation of the arrest, trials and death on the cross was a man.  Like us, He was subject to pain and suffering, both physically and mentally.
Jesus knew what was about to happen, He had been telling His disciples for the past years and particularly that evening that He would be undergoing something terrible.
In His prayer to God, His and our Father, He asked to be relieved of the burden He was about to endure.  As a man He didn’t want to go through this, as God’s Son, He knew God knew best and subjected Himself to God’s Will – and relinquished His own will.
On the surface what happened to Jesus was intolerable and should never have occurred, it was a set-up from the very beginning.  The leaders didn’t like what He had to say, so they wanted Him killed to stop Him.  He didn’t deserve any of it.
He didn’t deserve the trial, the humiliation and the painful torturous death that followed.  Yet, without all of it, we would not have a means to enter into God’s family.  We were separated from God, but through this death, as painful, tragic and unlawful as it was; we are now God’s Children.
It was the only way that we could be redeemed.  Christ HAD to die and had to die in a manner that was foretold in the scriptures to verify His Claim of being the Christ.  The unblemished lamb had to be slain so mankind could be saved.
I am learning as I continue my walk with Christ that He has a job for me to do, and it can be different each day.  I am learning to ask of Him, show me how I can serve you better.
As I stayed in the hospital, I asked Him to show me what He wanted me to do.  I didn’t have any bright light revelations, I didn’t have a voice that said speak to this person or that one, I didn’t lead anyone to Christ – yet I did talk to people, I did share my faith in Christ and I did do the best I could to represent Him to the employees and patients.  I just lived for Him.
I don’t know why all of a sudden I had A-Fib again – after almost a year without a sign of it – but God knows.  I don’t know what He has in store for me over the next few weeks, the Doctors are concerned that medication doesn’t work for me and are discussing alternatives.  AND I still have the prostrate problem that has not been resolved!
I cannot see what possible good came out of being in A-Fib, being extremely tired, even now as I write my body and mind is still in a fog because the heart is still recovering and the body is still adjusting.
I do know that God has a reason, I am His, and He will lead me as long as I allow Him to do so.
