Mathew 20:32-34

Mathew 20:32-34
And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you? 33 They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened. 34 So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.

Jesus was always on the move, He had many things to accomplish – lots of people to teach.  He was constantly being pushed for information and assistance.  Can you imagine how the demanding the people were when they realized He could perform miracles?   He called Himself the King and many of these people thought He was going to overthrow the Roman Government.  They were continuously following Him, not letting Him rest, pressing and pressing Him.
He was on His way to Jerusalem, for what would be His last pass over on earth; He knew that He would be betrayed and would die there this year.  He was being followed by multitudes of people, and these two blind men called out to Him – as the son of David.  This is a critical title, it is a recognition of His calling.  Back then blind people were thought to be blind because of sin; the multitude rebuked these men many probably thinking they were terrible sinners and of not worthy of speaking with Christ.  Others just wanted Him to get into Jerusalem and over throw the Romans.  He had a lot on His mind, who would have blamed Him for ignoring these men.  However, he did stop and because these men recognize who He was, they asked for and received their sight.
It is easy for us to be too busy to listen to the Holy Spirit when He speaks to us.  We walk by the person at work, or in the store, or a neighbor who gives us a sign of some kind (and the Holy Spirit points it out to us) that they are in need of someone to talk to them.  Instead of stopping, we go on because of our other obligations.  Yes, there are times that we can not simply stop, but most of the time we can and should.  During those times where we must move on, we can still give a kind word and go back later and make ourselves available – or even better explain to them that we are rushed but would like to talk to them and try and set up a time.
Jesus gave us many examples of how we should live our lives, He took the time to pray to the Father, often; and He took the time to meet, one on one, with those that are in need of His special gifts.  He expects us to do the same thing.
