Ephesians 2:19
Now therefore ye are no more
strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the
household of God;
I have great admiration for Abraham, Moses, David, Solomon,
Joshua, Samson, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, Isaiah, Job – not to
forget, Paul and Peter, Luke and Mark and Mathew and John; Mary and Mary
Madeline. The list goes on and on, I can hardly wait to meet them and the
many that went before and after them.
They will not be strangers, they are our brethren.
These are people who walked the earth just as we are walking it now; men
and women who lived for God. Stood strong in the face of adversity and
praised God through all of it. Taught others about God and let them know
that they would worship only God.
I want to hear Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego tell me about
their dance in the furnace, hear Moses talk about how he felt when he came to
the Red Sea with Pharaoh’s army bearing down on them. Daniel has so many
adventures; can you envision listening to his stories? Talk with the
bride who ran out of wine and Jesus turned the water – what did she
think? What will Lot have to tell us about lying dead in the tomb and
being called out of it – can you imagine his surprise? What did 120
people who were in the upper room on the day of Pentecost think as tongues of
fire sat on their heads and they started speaking in a language they did not
know? We are fellow citizens with them in the Kingdom of God!
Fellow citizens! With these great people of the Bible and those that
stood tall, many we lived with, millions more we will get to know and we will
get to hear THEIR stories of victory!
To join with them in praising God and Jesus our King as they
look out over us will be a thrill we will never get over; nor will we need to,
we will have all the time needed and then some, we will be joined with them
throughout eternity.
