1 Corinthians 6:11
And such were some of you: but
ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the
Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
It is sometimes hard to understand how God can love us after
we have sinned and failed Him so many times. But He does. God wants
us to be perfect, but when we are not He is still there to forgive us because
of the sacrifice of Jesus. Not that we want to test Him, there does come
a time when He will turn a sinner over to his deprivation and allow him to
wallow in his sin.
We never know when that time might come as we talk to those
that have turned their back on God and His Righteousness. However, since
we don’t know, it is still important for us to witness and profess the saving
power of Christ. Only God knows when He makes the decision to turn them
loose and since we don’t know we should not decide the decision has been
made. Many people who we might decide are reprobates and not
‘worthy’ of our time or energy are still being worked with by God.
I have seen many people whom I figure would never want to be
with God, turn to Him. In particular I remember a high school friend,
neither one of us knew Christ when running around together, was praying beside
me – several years after I had moved to The Dalles, at the altar. Someone
had taken the time to share Christ with Him and he accepted. We both
looked at each other remembering our past (no it was not vicious or
outrageously evil, but not of God either) amazed that we were there together as
brothers in Christ. I am sure there were those that would have given up
on both of us – but God did not. People care, listened to the Holy Spirit
and helped us find Christ’s saving Grace.
