What a difference a day makes, it is cooler today – one thing I had not commented on was the smoky air, still not sure just where it is coming from – but it has been here for most of the week.  And it does play havoc with allergies.
Today it is much cooler.  Temperature more temperate although it will still get up into the high 80’s, that appears to be coming later in the day and the breeze is making if feel much cooler.
Animals are more animated and much happier.
Carla harvested a couple quarts of blackberries, she will be sharing those, I imagine.  They are the seedless and are very good.
Mathew 9:6  But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.
‘Son of man;’ why would Jesus place that title on Himself when He is the Son of God?
He was born to Mary, a woman, so why not ‘Son of Woman?’  But, then that of course would not have been the way any person would have described themselves back then.
We know that nothing that is recorded in the Scriptures is just for show.  It is meaningful.
This term, I thought, reaffirmed His life here on earth as a human – He is God, but He was also human as He taught and strived to make the Jewish people understand that He was the Messiah; thus, ‘Son of Man.’
Thus with that thought in mind it made sense, but still I would have questions in my mind.
This morning I read an article by R.C. Sproul that is reasonable and helps me better understand why Jesus chose that title for Himself.
Jesus was the ‘Son of Man’ Daniel prophesied about:
Daniel 7:13-14  I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

Christ didn’t come as a Spirit; His responsibility was to be sacrificed – as a man – for the sins of all men.  To do that He had to be a man; and it was this ‘man’ (Jesus) Daniel prophesied about.
But it doesn’t stop there, Jesus referenced that prophesy many times.
Mark 13:25-26 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.
26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

So, there was no ambiguity.  Jesus claimed to be the ‘Son of Man’ Daniel talks about.
But, wait, that is not all:
Acts 1:9-11 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Now, ‘Son of Man’ has much more meaning for me.
He told the leaders of the Jews, to read the Scriptures – and that is also our charge.  It is amazing what we find, even after multiple readings of it.
Yes, I needed some help finding it, but once revealed it reinforced God’s Word.
Later, Art :-)
