Overcast and cloudy the past few days, today, however, we welcome the sun shining down and brightening the sky AND our hearts.
Still – we need that snow in the mountains, and pray it will fall and provide the necessary water this spring.
Daniel 4:44-47 The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws.
34 And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:
35 And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?
36 At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.
37 Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
A year before this, Nebuchadnezzar had been warned in a dream interpreted by Daniel, that if he did not change his ways, this would happen to him.
Verses 29-31 At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon.
30 The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?
31 While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.
We look about this country of ourselves and clap ourselves on the back for all we have accomplished.
But we did not do this alone.  Many of those in government proclaim they are responsible for the accomplishments of the nation.  They are wrong.
People in business proclaim they are the reason for the accomplishments of this nation.  They are wrong.
Ingenuity and hard work is also proclaimed as the reason for the accomplishments.  They are wrong.
This nation was founded upon the principles of the Bible.  For years the majority of the people recognized that without God this country was doomed to failure.  That without God we would find ourselves as the Romans, in disarray and destroyed from the decadence within.
That is happening, now in America.  We are seeing people grab power, and using it to pounce upon those who profess to be Christians and deprive them of their right of belief and speech.
We were warned, early on that this could happen:
“However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.”  – George Washington
But God warned mankind much earlier.  Nebuchadnezzar was warned and instead of taking heed in what God said, he chose to look about his kingdom and say, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?
Americans who have gone before us have indeed created a great country that could be looked upon as a beacon of light and a hope to all that came here and worked hard to achieve their personal goals – and in the past half century Americans have been destroying the very foundation of the nation, by denying the rightful place God has in this formation and doing all they can to undermine and destroy those that proclaim Him and His Word.
It would appear they success is coming their way.  That they can say, look at what we have done – we have made anyone who claims to be a Christian and says anything we do not like are pariahs, we are abolishing them – and in doing so terminating the so-called existence of a God who is in control.
But, God has been sending us warnings and if we do not listen a similar fate that Nebuchadnezzar was given (or worse) will be forced up us.  Let us hope that we will not have to continue being disciplined by God and turn back to Him as a nation and once again effectively help those that are oppressed become whole again.
Later, Art :-)
