Who is Jesus?

Labor Day, last weekend of ‘official’ summer.  The days are getting shorter, school is starting up for many this week and our minds goes from the less strenuous life of summer to the knuckle under and start getting things done of Fall.
The garden will be shutting down in a few weeks and the harvesting will be over.  Carla will start going over her seed catalogues, reviewing what worked and didn’t and they plan for next Spring.  She will work more in her sewing room and get ready for those long Winter nights where it is too cold to go outside.  The canned fruit and vegetables will be welcome supplements to our menu – remembering the garden and looking forward to the next harvest.  There are times we must have fresh vegetable from the store, and I almost cry as I look at the prices, knowing that we have been enjoying ‘free’ veggies from Carla’s garden.  Free, excluding the labor and water needed to keep them going – but at least we know where they come from and their quality and what was used in canning.

Mathew 21:8-11 And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.
And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.
10 And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?
11 And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.
Mathew 16-14-16  And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Who is Jesus?  A fair question.  As I read these verses today I realize that the world is still trying to figure out who Christ is and most are trying to put their own slant on Him.
Some say He was a prophet, as were Isaiah, Jeremiah, Eijah, etc. He was a man that walked this earth and foretold of events to come.
Some say He was a great teacher.  He said many things that are worth reading and contemplating, like Buddha.
Some say He was just a man who had things told about Him to deceive those of us foolish enough to believe in Him.
Some say He didn’t exist, the Bible is just a fairy tale.
Some have some idea that He is God’s Son, but they give no authority to Him concerning their lives.
Jesus said, Then charged He his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.  Mathew 16:20   Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”  John 15:6    “I and my Father are one.”  John 10:30

The Jews knew who Jesus’ Father was, they were upset because He claimed to be more than a prophet, He claimed to the Son of God on equal footing with God and the leaders wanted Him put to death for making that claim.
But it doesn’t matter what others think, it doesn’t matter that the world wants nothing to do with Him.  It doesn’t even matter what our church thinks – although obviously the church can teach us about Christ.  What matters is what we as an individual say He is; because no one else can make that decision for us.  We have to make a decision to believe He is the Son of God and our Savior or He isn’t.
If we say He is the Son of God and Our Savior, does our life reflect that belief?  How do we treat the scriptures concerning Him and His teachings/commands?
So, who do YOU say Jesus is?
Later, Dad :-)
