There were claims that there was
a mole in the INS offices. That
information of their investigations was being told to the Rajneesh; and they had
been doing so for several years.
There is speculation that, just
prior to his announcement of Sheila’s betrayal, Rajneesh was being warned that
an arrest warrant was coming soon.
To try and endure himself to
Federal officials and get those charges dropped for his cooperation, he may have
sent Sheila out of country so she would be out of harm’s way when he made his
announcement in September.
As enough information came in to
the prosecutors – State and Federal - and people agreed to come forward and give
information, Wasco County and Federal grand juries were convened and secret
indictments were issued.
Warrants were obtained. Some of those that were indicted had already
fled the country. Investigators needed
to coordinate all arrests so those out of country didn’t get tipped off and go
to a country that did not have an extradition treaty.
However, as Rajneesh and his
advisers were watching the investigation they knew he was in trouble. Search warrants had been executed with tons
of evidence gathered; most of his followers were now being cooperative with the
investigators.
The investigators were not
interested in what he had to say, and by inference unwilling to grant him
immunity for the INS crimes.
‘Somehow’ he learned of a
warrant charging him with the Immigration violations had been secretly issued
and he would soon be served, it was imminent, only a matter of days at most.
The day after learning this, he
was on a jet flying out of the state.
‘I think’ the leak of his
impending arrest was given to the mole to get the information to Rajneesh. Here is why:
While it was late in the fall
and consequently the population at the ranch was dwindling, they still had a
large security force at the ranch. The
security was well armed; as was the Peace Force.
Rajneesh’s followers believed –
and many still do – that he was a god and that he had no part in these
crimes. While I don’t believe he was a
god and I do believe he knew much of what was going on, it was their mind-set
that was important.
Most of these followers had no
idea of what was going on in the back ground, but they were loyal to Rajneesh
and arresting him and taking him to jail while he was on the ranch would have
been asking for trouble – maybe even gunfire.
There was no point in risking
anyone’s life, at this point, over these charges, especially if they could
somehow get him off the property.
Thus, I think, the leak.
His advisors obtained the
information and ran with it, literally.
They contacted a private
corporation to get a jet onto the ranch as quickly as possible. If my memory serves me correctly it was based
in one of the smaller communities near Portland – but I am not sure of that.
The jet flew into the
ranch. The Rajneesh and entourage got on
it and were flown out of Oregon.
They weren’t’ thinking real
well, they were in panic mode and forgot that pilots have to file a flight plan
– and this pilot, flying for a reputable company, had to have done so.
They landed in Charleston, North
Carolina. He was far away from his
security force with little risk to injury to anyone.
Rajneesh was arrested, without
incident.
Luke
2:49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye
sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's
business?
If you were asked “What is the
first recorded statement by Jesus?”
Would you answer with this verse?
When we search the New
Testament, Luke is the only one that gets into His childhood and this is the
answer Jesus gave to His parents when they told them how worried they were that
they could not find Him.
Seems like the right verse –
right?
1 John
5:7 For there are three that bear record in
heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are
one.
Three in One. We
know there is but one God, yet He comes in those three persons, The Father, The
Son and The Holy Ghost.
We have been taught that they are all one person; we call
these three, the Holy Trinity.
One of the reasons that Jesus was so hated by the Jewish
leaders was His proclamation He was the Son of God. They recognized the significance of that
statement – He is God.
Even today we accept the fact that Jesus is both the Son
of God and God Himself.
It is hard for me to get my mind around that – and I know
I am not the only one. Through the ages
man has tried to describe that relationship in ways we can understand – but
there are problems with each thought.
It comes down to, if we believe Jesus is who He said He
is, then we have to believe He is God.
Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the Father are One.
John 14:9 Jesus saith unto
him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip?
he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the
Father?
Jesus was clear who He is, there are
many verses where He refers to the Old Testament and shows where He fulfills
those verses.
There was no doubt in the Jewish leaders minds that Jesus
was saying He was God.
John 1:1-3 In the beginning was
the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was
God.
2 The same was in the
beginning with God.
3 All things were made by
him; and without him was not any thing made that was
made.
John was making it clear that
Jesus was with God from the beginning.
Jesus is the Word, He is God; He made all things and those things that
were made by man were done because of Him.
If we believe that there is but
One God, in three persons, then Jesus had a recorded statement much earlier than
when Mary asked Him why He didn’t go with them when they left.
Genesis
1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and
there was light.
At least that is what I heard
from a teacher pointing out that Jesus and God are one in the same – therefore
this would be the first recorded statement made by Jesus.
It is worth pondering and gives
us one more thing to clarify in our minds as to what we really believe.
Later, Art :-)
