Feeling better, there are some setbacks from day to day, but even in the setbacks I am improving.
Carla is meeting with her sewing group today, in Stevenson.  Looks to be a fun project, they are making trees in landscapes using freehand sewing techniques combined with craft supplies – right up her alley.
Yesterday the sun burned through the fog and we had a nice afternoon, while the fog lifts and lowers this morning, I am hoping the sun will break through – tends to lift the spirits, especially of Carla.
For now, it is Blaze and I with the cats.
Luke 12:16-21  And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

A day doesn’t go by that we do not see advertisements for companies that wish to invest our money for our retirement.  They want to help us save money and build upon it with interest so that when we stop working we will have a nest egg from which to draw our livelihood.  All this for a fee of course – they too wish to build a nest egg.
The government takes money from our checks and money from our employers to set aside for the time we no longer earn wages.  It is designed to supplement our income in our old age.
But man’s plans fail.  Personally, I am earning less than half of what was promised me by PERS when I retired – and it will continue to go down.  Many people saw their life savings stolen by those that had them invest in something and then fed their own bank accounts with it; leaving nothing for the ‘investor.’
Companies fail and with it the dreams of those that invested in them.  Social security, we are told, cannot continue its existence in its current state.  There will be reduction in service and funds.
There is no guarantee that what we have invested in worldly wealth will last us in our ‘golden years.’  We have but to look at what has happened in the past (and indeed, right now around the world) when governments get shut down or so greedy they take without giving.  People are left destitute and without a means of support.  Before long only those in power have funds – and they abuse it on their own lusts.
Still to not set aside, to not plan for the time we can no longer work would be foolish.  So we take advantage of opportunities that will allow us to continue our lives after retirement without becoming a ‘drag’ on society.
The question is, “Are we so involved in our physical/financial future we do not acknowledge God and His rightful place in our lives?”
While we may not be sayingAnd I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.  Our actions might proclaim it.

May we not forget that we owe everything we have to God, He is not only worthy of our support both spiritually and financially He demands it.  When we forget our responsibilities to God as we look towards our savings, then we are no different than this greedy landowner who thought he would live the rest of his life in a leisure style; and his life was taken from him that night.
Later, Art :-)
