Now THAT was gggggggoooooooooddddd soup!  I used the broth from the turkey bones as the base.  When I pulled it from the refrigerator it was gelatin, rich in flavor.  Warming up, it once again liquefied and with a bit of apple cider to give it a unique flavor along with the veggies, onions and garlic turned into something I probably won’t be able to duplicate....
Blaze is enjoying the last of the turkey left overs, so we have finally used up everything we had for Thanksgiving dinner.
Carla had today off, we were going to try and make it into Portland for a meeting – but canceled.  She just got called into work, her boss had a horse get caught in barbed wire, a dangerous situation and one the requires a lot attention after extracting the animal from the fence.
Not much else going on in our neck of the woods.  The sky is foggy and looks to be that way for a few days, not real exciting stuff.  Temperatures only vary a few degrees when the weather is like this, so we will be in the high 20’s low 30’s for the next few days.  That left over soup is going to taste might good this afternoon!
Genesis 17:4-6 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.
5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.
6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
And Verses 15 and 16 And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.
16 And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.

Every Jew can point to these verses and say I am of the family of Abraham; my birthright comes through Abraham and Sarah.  I am one of God’s chosen people.
Galatians 3:6-8 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

As a child of faith, I too am of the family of Abraham.  I am adopted into the family by the Love Grace and Mercy of God through His Son Jesus Christ, who died as a sacrifice for my sins.  My faith in Him, my acceptance of that sacrifice, allows me entrance into God’s Kingdom through the promises made to Abraham and all those who followed.
As Christians we are inextricably bound, through God’s mercy, to the Jews.  We are one with them in Our Lord.  We are joined together with those that have accepted Christ as their Messiah in our worship of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
Hebrews 6:13-19 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,
14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.
15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
16 For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.
17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;

As Christians we are part of that multitude God promised Abraham.
We have an identity through Christ.  We have a family, a Father, siblings and a way of life.  We have Christ who died for us; the Holy Spirit, who comforts, teaches and gives us peace.
We have His Word that gives us instructions, encouragement, history, examples, and an assurance of Salvation through Christ.
We are not unwanted; we are loved and cared for by a God who created the universe and all that is within.
Our life has meaning and purpose; it has direction; bought with a price we have a Lord who will guide us in all things.
What a glorious thing it is to be part of Abraham’s family – God’s family through our Savior Jesus Christ!
Later, Art :-)
